macrumours have picked up on a tasty bit of information within the iPhone 2.x firmare which mentioned an iPhone version “2,1″. Some of you may be aware that the original iPhone bears the model number “1,1″ whilst the 3G unit is “1,2″. So what, pray tell, is the “iPhone2,1″?
Time will tell, but we’ll certainly bring you news when we know more!

From what I’ve heard, the next iPhone might be blessed with a significant hardware upgrade to allow more powerful applications to run. This also means the next gen iphone might seriously challenge the nintendo DS in the gaming sector.
